For a well-functioning democracy, we need to have open, transparent, and accessible government. Bruce Fraser has set the example of being open and accessible, and providing information to residents. As Shawnigan Lake Area Director, I would maintain and build upon this level of openness and transparency.
We need to make sure that planning and development of new programs and services has effective community participation. We need to ensure that we only take on what is affordable, viable and directly aligned to our needs. For broader, regional spending, we need to make sure that Shawnigan Lake residents continue to have a strong voice representing them at the CVRD board table.
